Yiling Luo's project INTROSPECT explored the subtle tension between observation and those who observe, the gradual shift from passive subject of observation to firm self-definition, and the formation of a strong identity. Graduate of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Luo's vision of the project was deeply informed by her unique perspective on the complexities of femininity; in particular, she sought to explore it's vastness, depth, and the anxieties that these characteristics provoke. Our shoot sought to document the garments in a setting which functioned to outline the key motifs.
